Innovation
The Applied Science & Technology Research Organization (ASTRO) America was selected to help establish InSPIRE as a center for advanced manufacturing, research, and education. ASTRO is collaboratively co-designing equipment layouts, managing industry and government collaborations, and helping prioritize research that will maximize U.S. industrial productivity, national security, and regional economic development.

Maritech Machine
ASTRO and InSPIRE's first location in Bay County is at Maritech Machine. The series 5, GE Concept Laser multi-laser powder bed fusion machine and the GE ARCAM EBM Q10Plus electron beam powder bed fusion machine are operational at Maritech's 21,000 sq ft facility on a 2-1/2-acre industrial parcel. Additional support equipment includes a 3D vertical band plate saw, explosion proof vacuum, and powder sieving stations. These systems enable advanced research, development, and manufacturing in support of ASTRO and InSPIRE initiatives, focused on high-value aerospace and defense systems.
Leading-Edge Research
FSU is making a monumental investment to transform Northwest Florida's research and development landscape in partnership with industry leaders, local governments, and educational institutions. InSPIRE will enhance FSU’s capacity to conduct both secure and open research for aerospace and defense while strengthening local economic growth through high-paying jobs and educational opportunities.

InSPIRE’s professional learning approach thrives through its partnership with Learning Systems Institute, providing a rich tapestry of resources, expertise, and opportunities for K-12 educators. Working with partners like Microsoft and MantisEdu, LSI's educational experts guide teachers along an immersive educational journey in artificial intelligence and robotics, learning how to incorporate next gen technologies into their curriculum.

Systems Engineering
FSU InSPIRE is based at FSU Panama City, one of six universities participating in a pioneering initiative that is reshaping graduate-level systems engineering education. A two-year pilot program is integrating Boeing’s industry expertise into a Master of Systems Engineering curriculum through guest lectures, adjunct faculty positions and content development that will support future engineering leaders throughout Northwest Florida.
Economic Development
InSPIRE is funded by Triumph Gulf Coast and in partnership with regional powerhouses such as Bay Economic Development Alliance, Florida’s Great Northwest and Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. Working together, our region is being propelled into a new level of competitiveness, rivaling key competitors in talent, defense, aerospace and manufacturing capabilities. By attracting high-skill job creators, fostering industry-led research and development, and creating cutting-edge infrastructure, Northwest Florida is evolving into a formidable contender, making the regional economy highly resilient and attractive to the nation’s top talent and growing industries.

Military & Defense
InSPIRE is empowered to offer build-to-suit capability for secure military and defense operations with clean sheet design to solve for national challenges. Military partners can tap into academic breakthroughs, and national challenges can be addressed by highly vetted talent. Part of InSPIRE’s educational initiative will engage veterans and military spouses to build a network of allied collaborators operating in a production and teaching environment.
