Robert Hanna

STEM Specialist, Education and Workforce Development
Robert Hanna

Having grown up in Niceville, Florida with parents who worked at Eglin Air Force Base, Robert brings a deep appreciation for the coastal Northwest Florida region to the InSPIRE team. A proud graduate of Okaloosa County Schools and Florida State University, he is dedicated to bridging the gap between educational research and classroom practice through resource development, curriculum design, and teacher training. Robert draws on two decades of experience in education and workforce development to advance FSU InSPIRE’s mission of strengthening STEM learning across the region.

Before joining FSU’s Learning Systems Institute in 2020, Robert taught science in Tallahassee for 15 years. At LSI, he has developed K-12 STEM resources for CPALMS, led professional learning programs throughout Florida, into Georgia, and internationally, and co-authored inquiry-based curricula in areas ranging from robotics and agricultural STEM to civics integration and financial literacy. His passion lies in helping teachers integrate problem-based learning and cross-disciplinary content to create engaging and meaningful classroom experiences.

In his current role with FSU InSPIRE, Robert curates content, resources, and courses that empower teachers to engage students in STEM while connecting them to career pathways in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and emerging technologies. He has led professional development courses in AI fundamentals and prompt engineering, guiding teachers in using AI to co-design classroom resources such as eReaders, digital graphic novels, and open-ended engineering design lessons.

He continues to expand these efforts through future initiatives in robotics, coding, and additive manufacturing, helping equip both teachers and students for tomorrow’s workforce. Robert is grateful for the opportunity to invest in Northwest Florida’s future and proud to be a member of the FSU InSPIRE team.
