Many Teams. One Dream.

Strategic partnerships are the cornerstone of InSPIRE’s bold vision to foster research excellence and innovation. Through collaborative efforts with industry and community leaders, government agencies, military professionals and academic institutions, FSU is driving scientific and technological advancements. These alliances share many goals, including a future where applied research has a profound, sustainable impact on society and the global community.

INNOVATION

The Applied Science & Technology Research Organization (ASTRO) of America was selected to help establish InSPIRE as a major center for advanced manufacturing, research, and education. ASTRO is collaboratively designing advanced manufacturing equipment layouts, managing industry and government collaborations, and helping prioritize applied research that will maximize U.S. industrial productivity, national security, and regional economic development. ASTRO’s first location in Bay County is at Maritech Machine. The series 5, GE Concept Laser multi-laser powder bed fusion machine and the GE ARCAM EBM Q10Plus electron beam powder bed fusion machine are now housed in Panama City at Maritech's 21,000 square foot facility on a 2-1/2-acre industrial parcel. Additional support equipment includes a large 3D vertical band plate saw, explosion proof vacuum, and powder sieving stations. The systems will enable advanced research, development, and manufacturing in support of ASTRO and InSPIRE initiatives, focused on high-value aerospace and defense systems.

EDUCATION

InSPIRE’s integrated learning approach thrives through its partnership with the esteemed Learning Systems Institute, providing a rich tapestry of resources, expertise, and opportunities for lifelong learners. This team of educational experts is leading the InSPIRE workforce development initiative for educators. With partners like Microsoft and MantisEdu, educators can immerse themselves in artificial intelligence and robotics, learning how to incorporate next gen technologies into their curriculum. Graduating teachers earn industry and FSU certifications and gain access to a wealth of supporting materials through CPalms, an online toolbox of information, vetted resources, and interactive tools that helps educators effectively implement teaching standards. InSPIRE is currently based at FSU Panama City, one of six universities participating in a pioneering initiative that will reshape graduate-level systems engineering education. The two-year pilot program will integrate Boeing’s industry expertise into the Master of Systems Engineering curriculum through guest lectures, adjunct faculty positions and content development.
