Our Mission & Vision
What We Do
Our Team
Executive Director Bio
Our Mission
We are dedicated to fostering innovation and advancing research that drives economic growth and serves the community’s needs. Our mission is to create strategic partnerships that bridge the gap between academia and industry, particularly in the fields of high-speed aerodynamics, advanced manufacturing, and technology.
With a generational impact in mind, we leverage FSU’s expertise and resources to promote economic development and expand opportunities for all. The InSPIRE initiative is a testament to FSU’s commitment to the entirety of Northwest Florida and surrounding regions.
InSPIRE is committed to:
- Building state-of-the-art facilities for high-speed aerodynamics and advanced manufacturing within or near the Northwest Florida Beaches Airport.
- Securing significant contract and grant activity to support the diversification of the regional economy.
- Providing educational support and workforce development in high-tech industries through partnerships with Northwest Florida educational partners.
- Engaging in STEM outreach activities to inspire and educate the next generation of innovators and leaders.
WHAT WE DO
EDUCATE
InSPIRE serves the needs of Northwest Florida and will have a generational impact by providing STEM outreach across the region, increasing the number of engineering graduates from FSU Panama City, and creating high-skill, high-wage employment opportunities for decades to come. Our comprehensive workforce training and education programs are tailored for the advanced aerospace and manufacturing sectors to attract and retain high-tech companies to our region.
INNOVATE
The Advanced Manufacturing initiative at InSPIRE is a promise to revolutionize the way we think about materials science. InSPIRE will build unique, innovative, one-of-a-kind facilities for advanced applied research and product development at scales that are crucial for industry. Our vision is to create a world-class applied research hub that will redefine the aerospace industry. The centerpiece of our plan is a cutting-edge polysonic wind tunnel, envisioned to operate across a wide range of speeds, culminating in excess of Mach 5. This facility will be the crucible where the next generation of aerospace innovation is forged.
RESEARCH
With strategic alliances with industry and the federal government, InSPIRE aims to anchor novel R&D projects in the region, with a key emphasis on advanced manufacturing and aerospace technology. These R&D initiatives, ranging from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3 (proof of concept) to TRL 7 (prototype demonstration in an operational environment), will amplify the region's industrial prowess, reinforce military bases, and drive the emergence of new industrial sectors. InSPIRE's efforts will fortify national security and strengthen the US's position as a leader in defense systems and advanced manufacturing.

Boilerplate
The Institute for Strategic Partnerships, Innovation, Research, and Education (InSPIRE) is accelerating breakthroughs in aerospace and advanced manufacturing. At the core of this effort are dedicated partners working together to establish Northwest Florida as a national center of innovation, driving regional economic growth. Demonstration facilities are in development for end-to-end production, aero-testing and immersive training in STEM. Local, regional, and national members of an industry alliance are embedding employees at InSPIRE, collaborating with researchers and faculty from
FSU, its partners, and business and community leaders to develop and productionize aerospace, defense, and energy solutions, while offering hands-on learning to students and aspiring engineers in Northwest Florida. FSU InSPIRE launched with an initial grant from Triumph Gulf Coast, Inc.
